I used to have a re-occurring dream of being in an Amusement Park. After time went on I learned where everything was and stopped running for in fear. Recently, I have been thinking about how Life is actually Like An Amusement Park. You wait for what seems like forever for a few moments of excitement. Each ride symbolizes different ways we go through life and typically at the end of the day we are exhausted. The world is like a ride in an amusement park. When you choose to go on a particular ride you might think that the emotions you are feeling are real because that’s how powerful our minds are! Some rides goes up and down others round and round (just like life). There are tons of thrills and some leave you with chills. Some are brightly colored and there’s no question how very loud it can get. Some may say going to an Amusement Park is a lot of fun, well at least maybe for a while. Some people have been on a ride and it seems like they are on it for a long time and eventually they begin to question: “Is this real, or is this just a ride?” And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, “Hey, don’t worry, don’t be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride.” And we want to kill those people.

A few years ago I learned how to face my fears in my nightmares/dreams and take control back. Sometimes it worked sometimes not so well. If I was able to turn around and face what was so terrifying it would either change into something harmless or disappear if I didn’t fly away *yes I know) or run and hide first. I never did learn how to make fantasy type things happen but that would have made a completely different article and if I had my way erotic and mind blowing. I often wonder if that was truly possible why anyone would want to wake up! So, today I kept thinking of how Life Is Like An Amusement Park and began to associate how various rides reflect a bit of ones personality at the time. Thinking of all the different stages of life, the different Amusement Park Rides, and how the exact same ride can have drastically different reactions I thought it would be an interesting topic to explore a bit further. This article will start out by giving a basic outline but the real life experiences are going to be what makes it interesting. So, I plan on expanding on each area and adding to the existing list by trying to experience as many different rides as possible and discuss if fits into life. I wonder if my childhood memories will still feel like nightmares as an adult or will it be fun this time around, if those Amusement Parks in my dreams really existed, still exist or are now lost, forgotten, and never to be found. Feel free to add a few of your own for fun! It will be your comments and experiences that will add to the fun of going down memory lane. So, to start things off as I was searching for the Amusement Park in a re-occurring dream I have had for years. I came across some of these photos of what appears to be one of the Amusement Park Places that appears to be the center of my teenage nightmares. I think……… I can’t be 100% sure but at first glance many of them look pretty similar but I’ll have to visit this summer to know for sure. So, here goes the start of a journey into the unknown.
The Fun House
Currently, I feel as if I’m stuck in a Fun House. Just as I feel I’m at the end a door slams in my face and I start running but I have no idea where. Things are all twisted up, nothing is as it seems, and it feels like the people who are looking in are laughing at me trying to get out. Lon Chaney Sr. once said- “A clown is funny in the circus ring, but what would be the normal reaction to opening a door at midnight and finding the same clown standing there in the moonlight?” On the right you pass the plea to authority mirror, stop and look at the selective evidence mirror, and on the way out you laugh at the ad hominem mirror. You walk out of the Fun House without knowing reality and, more importantly, without realizing you don’t. Maybe you even latched onto one of the mirrors as the “real” one, not because it was less fallacious than the others, but, like how someone wants to believe a mirror that makes them look skinnier represents the truth, it was what they wanted to see. However, the horror of a Fun House is that….
You Pay to get in then Pray to get out!
You will scream with terror!…
You will beg for release!…
But there will be no escape…
for there is no release- from the Fun House.
Bumper Cars
All I can remember about Bumper Cars is getting smashed all around and ending up with a bloody nose while everyone laughed and got their kicks out of hitting each other as hard as possible. No one cared who they hit or what the consequences were. Sometimes you just have to put the pedal down, dodge things you don’t want happening to you, or the opposite: ram right into them. Bumper Cars are good for that. I like them for their controlled chaos. This ride is similar to a spouses’ night out. While you have safety in numbers, you mix a fun activity with some hair-letting’-down juice and go to town. I think both are good for taking the edge off and helping me to lighten up and laugh a little.
The Chair Lift
A Chair Lift Ride offers a quick and scenic way to travel from one end of the park to the other. Some chairlifts feature ski lift style seats, while others have more enclosed cabins.
Ferris Wheel
Some people mistake this ride as boring and not worth it. But, you can bring your whole family along to share a gondola. There are breathtaking views from a Ferris Wheel. It’s also the perfect place to steal a few sweet romantic moments high above a park or city below. I have hated Ferris Wheels, specifically the double kind since having a horrific experience on one. I was the only one on for some reason. It was getting dark and the man let me on even though I did not meet the height requirement. The first round was fine then my cart started to rock back and forth. As it picked up speed it rocked even harder. I held on for dear life and almost slipped off a few times. I was too scared to scream but I’m guessing the people looking up at me from down below must have gotten afraid for my safety. I have no idea where my parents disappeared to while I was up there but a group of people ran to the controller and when he looked up at me he jumped or maybe leaped from his stool to the control box and stopped the ride immediately. Some stranger ran up to me and pulled me out and held me until my parents finally realized what was happening and ran back over. The lady holding on to me felt like an angel but was shaking as much as I was. When my parents picked me up I started to cry and wondered to myself why they weren’t there to save me. My mom bought me a candy apple to comfort me which at first worked until we got in the car to go home. I started explaining how scared I was and thought I was going to fall out and die. They laughed at me and that’s when my fear turned to anger. I didn’t talk to them for the next few days or maybe it was only a few minutes that seemed like days to a little kid.
The Merry-Go-Round
Step right up and welcome to the show. When getting on the Merry-Go-Round you’ll go round and round with nothing too exciting and no real risk. It starts out slow and picks up speed. Until that one person decides to play games with you. After a while though the music or person next to you starts to drive you mad but no one gets angry or upset. Merry-Go-Rounds are vertical going nowhere but what a view! So, if you want security there’s nothing really guaranteed. Round and Round and around you go. Hold on tight and don’t ever look down. You find some extra money in your pocket so you better be good. You don’t need a ticket ’cause the ride is free. There is no need to worry about tomorrow you can make your own reality. Sometimes life is like a Merry-Go-Round (round and round and round).
The Roller Coaster Ride
The Adeline rushes as you go up the hill and you come crashing down as your heart pounds in your stomach. You go as fast as you can and come to a stretching stop in the end. Roller Coasters have many ups and downs as does life at times. Some of us love it some of us hate them. The point being that this life isn’t boring since excitement is bountiful in the transitions from the really high highs contrasting the really low lows.
The Swings
Swings are a great, smooth ride for all ages. The ride platform tilts throughout the ride for a gentle undulation. Some swing models also include double seats for riding with friends or for parents to accompany their children.
